Malawi President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on Friday held a meeting with over thirty – five leaders of various Civil Society Organizations (CSO’s) at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
The delegation was led by Mr. Oliver Nakoma.
According to Statehouse Facebook page, President Chakwera invited the leaders to present before him various concerns on behalf of Malawians following the CSO’s collective resolution to engage government directly on socio economic development matters rather than taking to the streets through economically disruptive protests.
“The CSO’s informed the president that they believe that constructive direct engagement is the best approach for building on and leveraging the areas which the Tonse Government has already registered success,” it says.
On his part, Statehouse added, President Chakwera thanked the CSO leaders for coming and committed to honour their request for regular direct engagement to monitor progress on the issues they raised.
