Abida Mia Impressed with security officers housing project

The multi-billion Kwacha Security Institutional Housing project, currently underway in Lilongwe, has left Deputy Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Abida Mia Impressed.

During her official visit to the construction sites of Areas 30 and 45 on Wednesday, Mia did not hide but voice out her satisfaction on quality and speed the contractor has taken towards completion of the project.

She further said, despite minor delays mainly because of rains, the contractor’s perfomance has been impressive.

The Deputy Minister said she was delighted to learn that the project has helped in creating jobs largely for the young with 400 jobs created by the Area 30 project alone.

Mia commended the country’s President Dr Lazarus Chakwera for priortizing the project since embracing the reigns of power, all for the benefit our our men in uniform.

Government had announced plans to construct 10,000 security institutional houses across the country over a period of 5 years.

Of the 10,000 houses, 4,000 were allocated to the Malawi Defence Forces; 4,000 to Malawi Police Service; 1,000 to the Immigration Department and 1,000 to the Malawi Prison Services.
