President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on Tuesday summoned heads of various institutions to a round table discussion at Capital Hill in Lilongwe to share notes ahead of Private Sector Labs launch later this month.
Chakwera is expected to launch the Private Sector Labs on 21st June, 2022.
According to communication from the State House, the president summoned only heads of Institutions whose policies and programs are critical for private sector success.
“His Excellency Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi is spending his day in the Presidential Delivery Unit at his Capital Hill office to align various public Institutions to his agenda for private sector and investment growth ahead of the private sector labs the president will launch in two weeks times,” says the communication.
“The private sector labs will focus on identifying and resolving road blocks to foreign investment and business growth in the country, pursuant to the president’s quest to achieve job creation, wealth creation and food security.”
Secretary to the President and Cabinet Colleen Zamba, Minister of Agriculture Lobn Lowe, Minister of Finance Sosten Gwengwe, Minister of Transport and Public Works Jacob Hara, Minister of Trade and Industry Mark Katsonga Phiri, Minister and Justice Titus Mvalo, Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola, , Minister of Lands Sam Kawale, Reserve Bank Governor Wilson Banda, Chief Executive Officer’s (CEOs) of Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) and Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Henry Kachaje and Kam Kumwenda respectively, attended the meeting.
