Malawi Leader President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on Monday met United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Executive Director Natalia Kanem in Doha where two discussed vital issues affecting the country.
The talks centered on the impact that Covid-19 had on Malawi as a country especially the negative effects on the youth of Malawi.
President Chakwera commended the work the UNFPA is doing to mitigate the rise in teenage pregnancies which escalated highly during the pandemic.
On his part President Chakwera stood behind the aspirations of strong working relationship between the United Nations and MDAs in Malawi as one way of addressing the overall impact of covid-19 pandemic on all sectors in the country with the assistance of mechanisms like the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDER) in addition to the Malawi 2063 Ten Year Implemention Plan (MIP-1).
President Chakwera has thus far held talks with a number of dignitaries on the sidelines of the Doha 5th UN LDCs Conference that he is attending in Qatar.
