President Lazarus Chakwera has vowed that government will do all it can to bring to book culprits involved in the killing of Dedza Border Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) Station Manager Alinafe Bonongwe.
Bonongwe was found dead in his home on Friday last week and a postmortem report revealed that he was murdered.
Reports say Bonongwe instilled professionalism and integrity in border operations at the station waging war against corruption and smuggling and conveyance of goods, fraud and corruption in line with MRA’s mission, vision and core values.
In a statement, Chakwera emphasized that government will never relent in pursuing Bonongwe killers until they are brought to justice no matter how long or whatever it costs.
The president described Bonongwe’s death as a heartbreaking and colossal loss to Malawi.
“Mr. Bonongwe has died a hero, and his sacrifice for Malawi will not be in vain for it gives us fresh inspiration to press on with our question for a new Malawi free of corruption,” added the president.
“As we lay Mr Bonongwe to rest in the coming days, our prayers are with the bereaved family, friends, all staff and members of MRA and all soldiers of anti corruption in the country.”
