Chakwera Says US Tour a Success

President Lazarus Chakwera has described his recent 6 day tour of the United States of America (USA) where he attended the fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries whose notable result was the adoption of the Doha Programme of Action as a success.

Writing on his Facebook page on Sunday at the end of his tour, Chakwera said extensive details regarding the trip will be conveyed to the nation once he returns home.

“The trip gave me an opportunity to meet key global stakeholders from the United Nations, United States government, IMF and other multilateral organizations,” added the president.

“I also had an opportunity to interact with fellow Malawians who are residing in the USA.”

During his stay in the US, Chakwera met the Director General of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), held talks with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The president also met Her Excellency Heidi Schroderus – Fox, Acting High Representative for LCD’s, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States.
