President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has expressed gratitude to the German government for its continued support to Malawi. The Malawi leader said this on Friday after he held meeting with members of the Economic Cooperation and Development Committee of German Federation at Chikoko Bay State Lodge in Mangochi.
Writing on his Facebook page the Malawi leader said the German government has been offering financial and technical support to the Malawi government in the areas of democracy, governance, primary education, health and the cash transfer initiative.
“I have expressed profound thanks to the German Government for its untiring financial and technical support to Malawi for decades. In particular, Germany has offered support in democracy and governance, primary education, health and cash transfer initiatives to the rural poor,” said President Chakwera.
President Chakwera indicated that German government has been helpful in helping the country cope with the Covid-19 pandemic with money amounting to €38.9 million and the provision of vaccine dosages.
The relationship between Malawi and German has been there for ages. Over the years the relationship between the two countries have been characterized by exchange visits by people of these two countries initiated to learn and appreciate cultures of the other country.
