There is much expectations among Malawians as President Chakwera is expected to open 2022/23 fiscal year’s budget meeting of Parliament at Parliament Building in the Capital on February 3, 2022.
Malawi is coming from a nine months fiscal year due to change of the fiscal year from July 1 to June 30 every year, now to be starting from April 1 to March 31 every year as it was in the Kamuzu era.
During the opening of the current financial year budget meeting, President Chakwera told the nation that the country will revert to the old system as in order to match with many areas including Agriculture and Education.
According the the press release from the office of the Speaker of the National Assembly, signed by the Speaker, Catherine Gotani Hara President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera will officially open the budget meeting on Thursday, February 3,2022 from 10:00am in the Parliament Chamber.
“The budget meeting will be held from Thursday, 3rd February, 2022 to Friday, 1st April, 2022 at Parliament Building. This will be the Fifth Meeting of the Assembly in the 49th Session of Parliament,” read part of the communique from the Speaker of the National Assembly.
The function will be held under tight Covid-19 restrictions.
