BLANTYRE : MALAWI: Democratic Progressive Party DPP leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika says he will not condone any act of indiscipline, disorder or activity perpetuating disunity in the party.

This follows two DPP rallies held on 30th April and 1st May at Mgona Ground in Lilongwe organised by DPP committee in central region, presided over by Zeria Chakale and another one organised by Grezelder Jeffrey and presided over by Kondwani Nankhumwa respectively.

In a statement, Mutharika said Zeria Chakale consulted the party and was given an approval from the central region committee for the 30th April rally at Mgona ground, while on the other hand Grezelder Jeffrey never consulted the party for an approval and proceeded with the 1st May rally at the same venue.

“Had Ms Grezelder Jeffrey consulted, she would have been directed that this rally be conducted elsewhere and or at some other time.” Reads the statement.

According to Mutharika, the conduct by Grezelder Jeffrey was out of order and an act of indiscipline.

“DPP is a party of democrats, order, discipline and respect of its constitution. What Ms Grezelder Jeffrey and Kondwani Nankhumwa did was out of order and an act of indiscipline and disloyalty.

The DPP specifically call upon Ms Grezelder Jeffrey, Kondwani Nankhumwa and all bona fide members and supporters to respect the party’s leadership and all structures as enshrined in the party’s constitution.” Reads part of the statement.

APM has backed the rally which Zeria Chakale organised and attended by the presidential aspirant Paul Gadama. What it means the DPP endorsed Dr Gadama rally.
