CRECK Hardware and General Suppliers, and its subsidiary companies (CK ceramics and Shalom Schools) has embarked on a multimillion and ambitious Msundwe Police Unit construction project in Lilongwe.
The project worth in excess of K52m is within the corporate social responsibility programs CRECK Hardware and General Suppliers implements in giving back to the Malawian community as a business entity.
Apostle Clifford Kawinga the Managing Director of CRECK Hardware said his company received a request from the Malawi Police Service though the office of the Inspector General to help with the construction of the Msundwe Police Unit.
“We received the request to help the police with the construction of the Msundwe Police Unit since the old structure was burnt down during the 2019 electoral results protests,” said Apostle Kawinga.
He went saying as a socially responsible company, he noted that the construction of the Police unit at Msundwe was worthwhile because it would enhance security to citizens in and around Msundwe.
“We are now constructing a complete new structure that is very big. It is as big and 10meters by 26 meters structure worth in excess of K52,” Apostle Kawinga said.
Apostle Kawinga elaborated that the new structure will include all the required offices at a police station including two contemporary cells.
“CRECK as a Malawian bred corporate, we believe that we have a responsibility to contribute to the Malawi development agenda hence our involvement in a number of Corporate Social Responsibility projects,” said Apostle Kawinga adding “ it is very unfortunate that mostly corporate social responsibility is often times left to multinational companies than local firms”
Apostle Kawinga has since called on local firms to embrace the concept of corporate social responsibility so that they join the development agenda of Malawi .
Meanwhile Community Policing chairperson for Msundwe has hailed Kawinga for the support to Msundwe.
“Our area is fragile and sensitive to crime and security; we are grateful to Apostle. Kawinga for embarking on this construction project,” Patrick said.
The presence of a police station is an assurance that people will be helped and their goods, property and life will be secured, said Patrick.
Besides Msundwe ambitious project, CRECK hardware also embarked on a project which is extending and renovating some structures at Mchinji Police station following a request by the Mchinji Police Station.
