Infighting continues wrecking havoc in the recent past ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) which is now failing to manage an opposition bloc.
On February 20 2023, Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa responded to President Lazarus Chakwera’s State of the Nation Address.
In his response Nankhumwa raised numerous allegations and criticism against government but he gave no any alternative solution.
He said all charges were dropped against Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) chief Martha Chizuma by Malawi’s prosecutor, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) earlier this month, but not before the government received a barrage of criticism within the country and by donor states on how it is handling its anti-corruption crusade.Nankhumwa kept on contradicting himself that the criminal indictment followed Chizuma’s arrest in December 2022 was related to a leaked audio where she discussed some high-profile corruption cases in Malawi.
After Nankhumwa failure to dismantle and discredit Chakwera’s Sona, DPP has mounted another attempt aimed at dislodging the SONA.
The language itself is clear that the DPP economic think tank Dalitso Kabambe sat down and drafted the response on behalf of DPP.
Several quarters have faulted the DPP for failing to work as one team ahead of the party convention later this year.
