Malawi President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has approved K40 Billion to be channeled towards youth empowerment.

Finance Minister Sosten Gwengwe has disclosed this at BICC Wednesday morning  that government has so far disbursed K40 billion to young people through National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF).

Youth and Sports Minister Honourable Richard Chimwendo Banda says the K40 billion resources have been disbursed to over 22 000 young people across the country.

The two were responding to questions which young people have raised at the National Youth Conference on the state of governance and youth development currently under way at Bingu National Conference Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.

Just recently, in solidarity with Malawi youth, five Cabinet Ministers held a panel discussion on issues affecting Adolescents Young Girls and Women (AGYW) at Bingu International Conference Centre.

The Ministers include Chimwendo Banda, for Health Honourable Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, Gender Honourable Patricia Kaliati, Education Honourable Agness Nyalonje and for Labour Honourable Vera Kamtukule

The discussions revolved around issues of education, youth development  and health among others.

The panel discussion followed a morning session where various technocrats presented abstracts on issues affecting young people.

The Ministry of Youth set aside the 30th and 31st August 2022 for a National Symposium for Youth and AGYW.
