In a demonstration of leadership that is in control of the affairs of the state, President Lazarus Chakwera, convened a cabinet meeting on Thursday at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
The statement on State House Facebook page indicated that the top on the agenda were issues of economic management in view of the rising cost of the living and commodities like fuel.
The statement reads: “His Excellency Dr Lazarus Chakwera McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi is continuing to lead the business of government by convening a session of cabinet at Kamuzu Palace today. High on the agenda are issues of economic management in view of rising cost of living and commodities like fuel.”
The State House further says the meeting was convened to review the existing and upcoming measures as a follow up of the austerity measures announced on 31 May.
In recent times, President Chakwera has been engaging different government heads of departments in order to be appraised of their performance and guide them through his policy directions.
Last week, the President had an interface meeting with Principal Secretaries of all the government ministries where among other things they were asked to spearhead the implementations of the Tonse government.
