Lilongwe City Council rebuffs Winiko from holding anti Government Demos

In a dramatic turn of events Lilongwe City Council has today barred Bon Kalindo aka Winiko from staging anti Government demonstrations dubbed rising cost of living corruption and nepotism in state entities. 

According to a statement signed by LCC CEO, John Chome Winiko cannot hold demonstrations while Sadc meeting is under way. 

“Reference is made to your letter dated 11h November 2021 with the above

subject. Lilongwe City Councl regrets to inform you that it has withheld its cosent for the planned demonstrations  scheduled 26h November, 2021. This follows an advice by the Malawi Police Service that they wll not have adequate

capacity to provide security during the demonstrations due to their engagements with SADC meetings taking place up to 27th November, 2021.”

The council has since asked Winiko to postpone the demonstrations.

“We therefore advise that you postpone the demonstrations to a later date
after Saturday, 27 November, 2021.”
