Minister of Agriculture, Lobin Lowe, yesterday condemned the sad behaviour of some government officials in aiding the AIP malpractices.
Speaking at the official opening of the Tobacco selling season, Lowe cited an example of the Mitundu thieving DPP councilor, Sekerani Kansikili who embezzled 300 bags of AIP fertilizer with the help of an SFFRFM official.
He spent three weeks in police custody and is now serving a court bail.
Ironically, the Councilor is now trying everything possible to avoid prosecution and upon his release on bail, he tried to join the UTM party but was refused.
He is now knocking on the door of the MCP as a way of seeking refuge.
Many commentators have advised Tonse partners not to welcome this thieving DPP councilor until he’s cleared by a court of law.
In his remarks, President Chakwera warned his government and party officials not to entertain any kindness of crookedness and corruption if the country is to regain its old glory.
This is an indirect policy direction against welcoming errant defectors coming with the sole purpose of dodging the rule of law.
