Leader of the House who is also Minister of Youth and Sports Richard Chimwendo Banda on Thursday accused Democratic Progressive (DPP) for wasting Malawian’s time with stone planting than doing development.

Chimwendo said this in Parliament when responding a question poised by Mulanje Bale Parliamentarian,  Victor Msowa.

Chimwendo said all worries which Mulanje Bale MP will be thourouhly looked at and addressed instantly since there is no time for just stone planting but implementing what Government promised.

Minister of energy Ibrahim Matola also told Parliament of the same. Matola while addressing questions from Nicholas Dausi  on faulty transformers in his constituency said he should not even get worried because Government will keep a watchful eye on the problem and address them.

A good example is planting of Chakazi Bridge foundation stone but never started the work till Dr Chakwera took over power.

At one time Malawians accused  DPP leadership for just planting stones than development.

President Peter Mutharika at one time hit back at critics who accused him of rolling up his sleeves and taken to laying foundation stones to hoodwink Malawians into voting him into office again, saying all infrastructure development projects his administration had launched will materialise.

President Mutharika laid foundation stones for road projects including the 186 kilometer (km) Blantyre By-pass Road and the 16km Clock Tower to Chileka International Airport dual carriageway.

Mutharika told Malawians that his government will construct a tarmac road from Chileka International Airport in Blantyre to Mpatamanga up to Mwanza District in addition to the Mangochi-Makanjira Road whose construction he touted but never materialised.

But critics raised questions over funding, asking President Mutharika to explain to Malawians where government would get the money for such projects in the face of non-performing of his economy.

Ecinomists asked DPP government to disclose the source of funding to “inspire confidence” people that the planned projects are doable and deliverable within the stipulated time frames.

The overgrowing anger became so huge and voted them out.
