The Minister of Mining who is also Member of Parliament for Ntcheu Central Constituency, Honourable Dr Albert Mwala has earned special recognition amongst the Maseko Ngonis by being appointed one of the Impis to his Royal Majesty, Ngwenyama Inkosi ya Makosi Gomani V.
Speaking yesterday at Umhlangano wa Maseko Ngoni Annual Cultural Festival in Ntcheu where President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera was the guest of honour, Inkosi Ya Makhosi Gomani V announced that Mbawala has demonstrated hard work, love and transparent leadership, hence the appointment. The King further said he expects all appointees to continue spearheading development activities in Ntcheu and Malawi at large.
In his reaction, Mbawala who is also MCP Treasure General says his appointment reflects the trust the King and the Maseko Ngonis have in him.
“I am very excited to be appointed one of the Impis to His Royal Majesty Maseko Ngoni Gomani V. It is a great honour and I will serve with a dedication to making sure that together we achieve our King’s vision.” He said.
Mbawala further said the appointment also means MCP as a political institution is being recognised for good governance and numerous developments across the country.
“I am a Minister in President Chakwera’s administration, and a Treasurer General of the ruling party. As a government we are focusing on serving Malawians by providing good infrastructure and social services, however this cannot be achieved without the involvement of chiefs.” Said Mbawala.
Chakwera’s government has renovated Ngwenyama Inkosi ya Makosi’s residence which was originally constructed for the Inkosi by His Excellency, the late Dr Hastings.
