The Ministry of Education says it has come up with a five-stand transformative strategy which seeks to lay a solid foundation for children and enhance provision of quality education in the country.
The Minister responsible Agness Nyalonje, said this in Lilongwe during the launch of the 2022 joint sector review meeting.
Among them is the allocation of the best teachers in standards 1 to 4 and introduction of Early Childhood Development in all primary schools, improve training and support to teachers, redesigning of the curriculum, expansion of the school feeding coverage from 35 to 100 percent and expansion of education digitalisation.
Nyalonje said there is a need for a holistic approach by prioritising and developing all sub sectors in the education system.
The minister said it is important for the country to provide comprehensive, inclusive and quality education which she said is a crucial component in attainment of aspirations in Malawi 2063.
“Given these inefficiencies in the primary
subsector, we need to collaborate and address the situation,” she said.
Meanwhile, education officials from Tanzania have donated 1200 Swahili books to help Malawi’s quest to introduce Swahili in the country’s school curriculum.
