Minister of Homeland Security challenges Departmental heads not to engage into corruption

Newly appointed Minister of Homeland Security, Jean Muonaowauza Sendeza, on Friday, 4 February, 2022, challenged Malawi Police, Immigration, Prison , and National Registration Bureau departments to put their hands off from corrupt behaviour.

The Minister was speaking over the weekend when he engaged heads of departments under her Ministry to appreciate the progress current being made inrespective departments.

In her remarks, Sendeza who was
accompanied by the Principal
Secretary in her ministry, Kennedy Nkhoma commended the departments through the
departmental heads for the great
services being provided to the
citizenry.

During the interface meeting, Sendeza was briefed of challenges the departments are currently facing.

During the tour, the Minister was quick to assure them of improved working environment.

“Its time to work hard and smart by among others resisting, rejecting and reporting corruption at all levels to fulfil President Chakwera’s Vision for the country.” She said.

The ministry’ departments include Malawi Police service, Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Malawi Prison Service, Department of Refugees, and the National Regulation Bureau (NRB).

The minister has since promised to visit each department in the near future as a continuation of her engagement with them.
