The continued support by Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) including Muslim World League to the flood affected victims has prompted legislator for Chikwawa South Constituency, Ilyias Karim to express gratitude to Malawi’s leadership for pronouncing ‘state of disaster’ districts affected by Tropical Cyclone Ana.

During distribution of relief food to 2000 households in Chikwawa South, Karim hailed President Dr Lazarus Chakwera for his swiftness in making the declaration, a move that has attracted NGO’s, companies & people of good will to reach out to the victims with kind donations.

“It would be impossible for NGO’s like Muslim World League to come down with such timely donation if the President did not sound SOS asking NGO’s, companies & people of good will to respond to the plight of our people in the aftermath of the devastating Cyclone,” said Karim.

Thankful to Muslim World League, Karim took the opportunity to appeal to other donors so they could come in with more support for the 10,000 households that are currently in dire need.

On behalf of Muslim World League, Nur-deen Kaondo said, it was in the interest of his NGO to donate food relief in Chikwawa South after receiving reports that the affected people were in desperate need.

According to Kaondo, the relief items that comprised of maize flour, cooking oil, soya pieces and water guard is valued at 45 Million Malawi Kwacha.
