President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera said he is determined to fix the broken system in the Civil Service that has been neglected for a long time.President Chakwera said this on Tuesday at Kamuzu Palace during an interface with government Principal Secretaries
The state President stressed that he will not entertain behaviours within the that will derail the implementations of programs aimed at fixing the broken systems.The Malawi leader bemoaned lack of attention by previous regimes to effect necessary policy direction for an effective civil service
“Through my office at the Cabinet,i am determined to do everything i can support and set you up for success, and i am just as determined to not entertain any attitudes or behaviours from the civil service that are designed to make us fail.”
The Malawi leader then challenged the Principal Secretaries to be on top of their game in spearheading policy implementations for the effective service delivery in the civil service.President Chakwera said he will be looking up to Principal Secretaries as Controlling Officers to make changes to for the improved civil service
“The bottom line is that the civil service has been out of control for too far long, and you are the ontrolling Officers i am trusting to help me change that”.Said President Chakwera
The President has since directed that all Principal Secretaries should have monthly meetings with the Secretary to the President and Cabonet (SPC) and the Principal Secretaries will also be subjected to performance appraisals every three months.
Today’s meetings follows another one the new SPC Colleen Zamba had last week she realigned the Principal Secreraries to President Chakwera’s transformative agenda.
