President Chakwera leads Malawians in mourning Former First Lady Anne Muluzi

President Lazarus Chakwera,  on Thursday led Malawians in mourning Anne Chidzira Muluzi former First Lady of the Republic of Malawi.

Malawians from all walks of life gathered at Chidzira Village of Malingunde, TA Masula in Lilongwe Msinja to bide a sorrowful farewell to late Former First Lady, Madame Annie Chidzira Muluzi who passed away on December 28,2021 at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi-Kenya after battling against cancer since 2006. 

Speaking on behalf of the State President during the funeral ceremony, Deputy Minister of Defence Hon. Jean Sendeza said President Chakwera is saddened by the death of late former First Lady who Chkawera described as a woman of good conduct, with integrity who was always setting a good example among her fellow women and all Malawians. 

“The State President is deeply concerned that the the pillar has fallen, and that he and the First Lady mourns with the Muluzi family over the death of late Annie, adding that she was a strong woman of substance who assisted former President Bakili Muluzi very much during the change of the country’s political status from one party regime to multiparty democracy.” Read part of the speech delivered by Sendeza on behalf of President Chakwera. 

Further, in his condolence message, President Chakwera urged all Malawians to emulate late Muluzi on her humbleness in serving the country. 

Born on March 18,1952, Late Annie Chidzira Muluzi was the very first First Lady of this country, and at the time of her demise she was at the age of 69. She has since been laid with full military honor as directed by President Lazarus Chakwera.
