President Chakwera says trade deals to revitalise Malawi Economy

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has hinted that the trade deals which have been sealed in Sudan, COP26, Dubai and Kenya will have long time benefits for the country. 

The president was speaking at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe during a press briefing. 

Chakwera said the deals will help this country to have more countries to trade with.

“This is what we have been talking while in Kenya and as we were talking, goods were already on their way to South Sudan and the same when we were in Scotland it was all the same in Dubai the idea is to take the economy back on its rail,” He said.

President Lazarus Chakwera said his recent foreign trips to three countries has been successful in finding ways of addressing problems the country is going through. 

Chakwera said, the visit to the three countries was aimed at assuring the future harvest of the country that is going under restoration of economy, social livelihood, agriculture, trade and investments among others, citing the trade deals he secured in Kenya, discussions with various investors in Dubai, appeal for climate finance in Scotland as indicators of Malawi’s better future. 

Malawi’ leader further highlighted that the trade deals recently sealed with South Sudan, and the trade expo will bear fruits.

He then expressed his gratitude for the patriotism and patience the citizens are showing towards restoration, while encouraging and assuring them that his government will leave no stone unturned until their sacrifices pay dividends. 

President Chakwera condemned the tendency by some political leaders of the previous administration for lying to citizenry about the state of economy, saying that legacy is not part of his leadership. 

President Chakwera returned back home from 18 days international official visit to Kenya, UAE, and Scotland on Saturday last week.
