In a move that is aimed at conserving the environment, ministers from all countries participating in the Region 5 Games on Friday, 2nd December, 2022 took turns planting trees at Nalikule Teachers College (NTC)
Malawi is currently hosting the Region 5 Games where Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa , Namibia, Comoros ,Botswana, Eswatini and Angola are taking part.
Speaking at the event, Region 5 Chief Executive Officer Stanley Mtoya said the planting and establishment of Region 5 Conservation Centre symbolically means that all African Countries should plant more trees in order to avert natural calamities.
Mtowa said Malawi is a victim of natural disasters hence the need for more trees.
He advised the countries to look after the trees once planted.
