The Reunion Insurance Company Malawi has extended its support towards Sorry To My Mother movie by donating a sum of K500,000 for the premier of the movie by a Lilongwe based actor.
In an interview after presenting a cheque on Friday, March 18 2022 in Lilongwe, the Reunion Insurance Company Regional Manager, Madalitso Kamberengende said the company decided to make the donation because they like promoting their fellow Malawians.
Kamberengende said: “Us being an insurance company, owned by Malawians, we felt maybe we should promote our fellow Malawians. To have their films beamed on our television stations.
“We have noted for along time that Malawians, they normally watch films from other countries like Nigerian films. So when we were approached by this film company, we thought that this is our opportunity, to help our fellow Malawians, the way our fellow Malawians also help us by giving us business.”
Kamberengende added that it has been along time since Malawian movies have been premiered on the local television channels.
On his part, Brazio Mathias Kanyong’o, a Lilongwe based actor and the producer of the movie said he is super excited with the donation by the Insurance Company. Adding that the aid has come at a right time.
“Am very excited because the donation has come in a good time. While we are struggling in film industry financially, we need more companies like the Reunion Insurance in Malawi to help the film industry,” said Kanyong’o.
The Reunion Insurance Company Malawi has its offices in all regions in the country. They offer various insurance products but not limited to: motor business, house owners, fire for the industrial factories, burgalary insurance and workers compensation.
The company opened its doors in the country on May 3 2005.
The Sorry To My Mother movie is produced by Magic Promotions Company and it is filmed by John Nguluwe and directed by Alex Chilambe.
The movie will be premiered on April 29 2022 at Golden Peacock Hotel in Lilongwe.
