Officials from Save the Children stormed the on going budget session of parliament to lobby for more resources towards early childhood education in the country.
Save the Children Director of Operations Frank Mwafulirwa emphasized that children are the future of every nation and as such, it is important to groom them while young so that they should grow into productive citizens.
With this in mind, Mwafulirwa expressed confidence that government will prioritize child education.
“If we don’t invest while a child is still young it will affect their mental status and developmental growth,” emphasized Mwafulirwa.
Parliament’s Social and Community Affairs Chairperson Sovel Kafwafwa concurred with Mwafulirwa saying there are a lot of gaps when it comes to child education and care.
“Early childhood education is key to the country’s development. We need more and more early childhood development centres in every constituency,” Kafwafwa.
